Job Title
Power Technician
Job Summary
The Power Technician is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of power systems supporting telecommunications sites. The role ensures the continuous and reliable operation of power equipment, including generators, rectifiers, batteries, hybrid systems, and other electrical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on power systems and electrical equipment.
Install, inspect, and troubleshoot generators, rectifiers, battery banks, UPS, and hybrid power systems.
Monitor power system performance and identify potential faults.
Diagnose and repair electrical and power-related issues to minimize downtime.
Conduct routine site inspections and ensure equipment operates within recommended parameters.
Record maintenance activities and prepare technical reports.
Support the installation and commissioning of new power equipment.
Ensure proper handling and maintenance of tools, spare parts, and test equipment.
Respond promptly to emergency faults and power outages.
Ensure compliance with company procedures and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in power systems maintenance or telecommunications power infrastructure.
Experience with generators, battery systems, rectifiers, UPS, and hybrid power systems is preferred.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of electrical power systems.
Good troubleshooting and fault diagnosis skills.
Ability to read electrical diagrams and technical manuals.
Familiarity with electrical measuring instruments and testing equipment.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work under pressure and travel to field sites when required.
Basic computer and reporting skills.
