Job Title:
Data Center Supervisor
Job Summary:
The Data Center Supervisor is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of data center facilities. This includes overseeing the daily activities of the data center team, ensuring optimal performance of data center infrastructure, and maintaining high standards of data security and availability. The supervisor will also manage vendor relationships, coordinate with other departments, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervision and Management:
o Lead and supervise a team of data center technicians and support staff.
o Schedule and coordinate staff shifts to ensure 24/7 coverage.
o Conduct performance evaluations and provide training and development opportunities for team members.
2. Operations and Maintenance:
o Oversee the day-to-day operations of the data center, ensuring systems run efficiently and reliably.
o Monitor data center performance metrics and implement improvements.
o Manage the maintenance and repair of data center equipment, including servers, storage devices, and networking hardware.
3. Security and Compliance:
o Ensure the physical and data security of the data center, implementing security protocols and procedures.
o Maintain compliance with industry standards, government regulations, and internal policies.
o Conduct regular audits and risk assessments.
4. Infrastructure Management:
o Oversee the installation, configuration, and deployment of data center hardware and software.
o Manage power, cooling, and environmental systems to ensure optimal conditions.
o Coordinate with facilities management to address any infrastructure issues.
5. Vendor and Stakeholder Relations:
o Manage relationships with vendors and service providers, ensuring timely delivery and support.
o Coordinate with other departments and stakeholders to support business needs and projects.
6. Incident and Problem Management:
o Develop and implement incident response and disaster recovery plans.
o Lead the response to any data center outages or issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
o Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
7. Reporting and Documentation:
o Maintain accurate records of data center operations, including equipment inventories and maintenance logs.
o Prepare regular reports on data center performance and activities.
o Ensure proper documentation of procedures and protocols.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Data Center Management, ITIL) are a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in data center operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and environmental systems. Familiarity with data center management tools and software.
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, manage projects, and coordinate with various stakeholders.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to handle complex technical issues.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
